Her early successes in the performing arts, that we now know by the name of Maureen O'Hara, would certainly be a qualifier to the "child prodigy" category. A child of Irish heritage, and surrounded as she was by gifted parents and family, this came naturally. Maureen was born in Ranelagh - a suburb of Dublin - Ireland on 17 August 1920. Marguerita FitzSimons was a gifted contralto. His father, Charles FitzSimons, managed a business in Dublin as well as owned a part of the famous Irish football team "The Shamrock Rovers." Maureen FitzSimons was the daughter of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy, Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons made up this beautiful family. Maureen was a fan of rough sports as a kid and was very good at them. Her naturally-born interest with her ability in performing was astonishing. She was awarded nearly every Feis Award for Drama and Theatre Performance the country could provide. In the age of 14she was admitted into the Abbey Theater, where her dream was to pursue operatic singing and classical theater.
